Common Models of PZ Sheet Pile
PZ series sheet piles supplied from AGICO have 4 popular models: PZ22, PZ27, PZ35, and PZ40. They are Z-section hot-rolled steel sheet piles widely used in civil and geotechnical engineering for earth retention, water cutoff, and foundation reinforcement.

Hot-Rolled Sheet Pile Advantage: The hot rolling manufacturing method can enhance the steel sheet pile properties, such as stable mechanical properties and excellent structural integrity. The well-engineered Z-section pile balances strength, durability, and driving installation efficiency, and is a good option for sheet piling projects.
Dimension: PZ sheet piles are mainly designed and produced in 3 effective widths: 700 mm/750 mm/770 mm. PZ22-PZ40 sheet piles vary in dimensions and cover a wide range of shallow to deep excavation support and waterfront structures, providing both good load resistance and watertight performance.
PZ(22-40) Sheet Pile Specification:
The PZ 22-40 sheet pile cross-section can efficiently distribute external loads and significantly improve bending resistance. Socket and ball interlocks ensure consistent load transfer and strong wall continuity after installation. Here are the specifications covering steel grade, mechanical properties, weight and length options:
| Model | Nominal Width | Wall Depth (Height) | Web Thickness | Flange Thickness | Area |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| in. | in. | in. | in. | in.2 | |
| PZ22 | 22 | 9.25 | 0.375 | 0.375 | 12.2 |
| PZ27 | 18 | 12.1 | 0.375 | 0.375 | 12.2 |
| PZ 35 | 22.64 | 15.1 | 0.5 | 0.605 | 19.4 |
| PZ40 | 19.69 | 16.4 | 0.5 | 0.6 | 19.28 |
| Model | Weight Per Foot | Weight Per Foot | Moment Of Inertia | Section Modulus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| lbs/ft | lbs/ft2 | in.4/ft | in.3/ft | |
| PZ22 | 40.3 | 22.6 | 85.1 | 18.4 |
| PZ27 | 40.5 | 27.7 | 187.3 | 31 |

- Steel Grade: PZ22-PZ40 model sheet piles are made of carbon steel plates, such as Q295, Q345, or equivalent steel grades. These steel grades have basic mechanical performance – Yield Strength: 295–345 Mpa, Tensile Strength: ≥ 450 Mpa.
- Mechanical Properties: PZ sheet piles provide strong resistance against soil and water pressure, minimizing deformation under load. PZ22, PZ27, PZ35, PZ40 sheet pile performs reliably in applications such as deep excavations, riverbank protection, and temporary cofferdams.
- Weight & Length Options: AGICO supplies PZ22, PZ27, PZ35 and PZ40 sheet piles in standard lengths of 6m, 9m, and 12m. It can also be supplied in customized lengths according to customer requirements. The unit weight per meter is affected due to the sheet pile length, check the weight data in the table or contact AGICO now for help from our engineers.
The optimized weight of PZ sheet piles allows easy handling and installation using standard vibratory hammers and crawler cranes, without requiring oversized lifting equipment.
Interlock Design & Water Tightness

Unlike Larssen sheet piles, PZ22-PZ40 sheet piles adopt symmetrical socket and ball interlocks with precise tolerances: Interlock clearance: ≤ 3 mm.
This unique sheet pile interlock design ensures smooth installation, strong engagement, and reliable sealing. When used together with sealing materials and other sheet piles, a zz sheet pile retaining wall is formed. This interlock design has shown enhanced water cutoff performance, suitable for cofferdams and flood control structures. If you want to learn more about this interlock design, contact AGICO now!
Where are PZ22-PZ40 Sheet Piles Used?
PZ series sheet piles are widely used singly for the following water and earth retaining wall applications; they have been proven to have excellent water-stopping performance and long service life.

- Medium-depth excavation support (metro stations, underground parking, utility trenches)
- Temporary or permanent retaining walls
- Riverbank and canal reinforcement
- Port, quay wall, and waterfront structures
- Temporary cofferdams and flood protection works
For extremely hard rock strata or ultra-high load conditions, larger section piles or combined pile systems are recommended.
PZ22- PZ40 Sheet Pile Driving Methods
Installation methods for PZ22-PZ40 sheet piles include 2 options, which are designed for different areas and earth conditions. They can be driven into the earth by a vibratory hammer machine or a static press-in piling machine. Installation tolerance shall be controlled: vertical deviation: ≤ 1%. Here is a brief introduction of both:

- Vibratory Hammer Driving
- High efficiency (30–50 piles/day)
- Suitable for open or low environmental sensitivity areas
- Static Press-in Method
- Low noise and vibration
- Ideal for dense urban environments
During extraction, vibratory hammers combined with high-pressure water flushing are recommended to prevent interlock damage or pile deformation.
